Psychic Suburbia
by Cassandra Eason

'About seven o'clock one morning I took in a cup of tea as usual. I though I could see someone out of the corner of my eye following me but when I looked over my shoulder there was no one. Anyway, there was no one else in the house apart from Jack and myself and the door was still locked. So I was flabbergasted when Jack asked me, "Who's that man who has just come in with you?"

'I laughed and replied, "You don't think that if I'd got a man here, I'd bring him into your bedroom?"

'But Jack insisted there was a man and even described him, whitish hair, pale and slender and wearing a light blue suit. "He keeps trying to attract your attention," Jack insisted.

'But I couldn't see anyone, although all day I felt as if I was being followed and kept catching glimpses of a hazy figure out of the corner of my eye. We called the ghostly intruder Little Boy Blue but I could see my husband wasn't altogether happy about the situation.

'A couple of days later, some friends called. Suddenly I could see Boy Blue in the corner laughing and singing. I started to laugh-he kept doing outrageous things to attract my attention. My friends were scared because they thought I was drunk. Boy Blue was good fun though Jack got even more suspicious when he heard me laughing and no one was supposed to be there. I think I even did a dance and I started singing and my friends left looking embarrassed.

'Next day Ned, a healer friend from Penge, popped by on some pretext, I think my friends had asked him to call though I hadn't told them about Boy Blue. After all I was a bit old for an invisible friend. I was doing the washing up and I wanted to finish. He said suddenly, "You've got a man in blue with you leaning against the sink watching you."

'"I know," I said. I wasn't worried. In fact it was quite flattering Id seen ghosts before and this one was fun. But the healer warned me little Boy Blue was attached to me and was trying to take me over. I realised that I had been acting oddly with Boy Blue around so we carried out a little ceremony.

'After that Little Boy Blue never came again. But it made me realise that it is important to be careful with psychic powers. I knew I couldn't just ignore my powers but should use them for good not party tricks. So I took up healing and became involved in helping people through the Spiritualist Movement. So some good cam out of Boy Blue after all.'
