Ghost Files, Creepy
but true?

- Dont expect to hunt a bazillion ghosts a year. A parapsychology program at a
university may get twenty-five calls and letters a week from people who want to get to the
bottom of paranormal activity, but ghost hunter Peter Underwood says many people see only
one or two ghosts in their lifetime.
- Go where the ghosts are. Most sightings are made inside homes. And if you really,
really, really want to see a spirit, camp out near a homes staircase. Thats
the part of a house thats most frequently haunted. Only ten percent of people who
see ghosts spot them in an unfamiliar place, but if ghostbusting at home isnt
panning out it might be time to hit the road. Research buildings nearby-libraries,
theaters, hotels-that are said to be haunted, grab an adult whos also intrigued by
the paranormal, and investigate the site for spooks.
- Set your alarm clock to increase the odds of spotting a ghost. Apparitions love the
cloak of darkness! According to ghost hunters, most people whove seen apparitions
after dark have seen them at two specific times: midnight, and between the wee morning
hours of 4:00 A.M. and 6:00 A.M.
- Know what youre looking for. If youve got it in your head that apparitions
always look like Casper, you need a radical ghostectomy! Real ghosts most often resemble
real people.
- Rely on all your senses-sight, smell, touch, hearing-when you hunt ghosts. More than
likely, youll sense an apparitions presence before you see it.
- Be especially alert when a rooms temperature suddenly drops for no reason. One
British ghost hunter analyzed ghost sightings during a ten-year period and found that
people who saw a ghost usually felt a sudden drop in room temperature when they spotted
the apparition.
- Have your ghostbusting tools handy. Most ghosts are in and out of your room in less than
a minute. Youve gotta sneak your peeks fast because ghosts arent going to hang
around and hang out with humans. Experienced ghostbusters keep their ghost-hunting
notebook near their bed so they can record the ghosts appearance and movement. Some
ghostbusters quickly sketch the apparition in their notebook as soon as the ghost moves
on.
