Haunts in Hackensack

The latest weird tale from this area was told to me by a neighbor at a recent garage sale...

Earlier this year, one of the more unusual older homes on my block was torn down to make way for four boxy monstrosities sans yards. Before the older home was destroyed, the telephone company sent someone around to do some final disconnecting. The former occupant of the house had passed on and obviously the house was empty. After a few minutes on the site, the telephone company employee raced to a neighboring home and reported that she was visited by an elderly woman while working in the living room. The elderly woman asked what she was doing and then disappeared... The telephone employee described Mrs. Bean, the former owner to a tee.

The persona telling the story to me wondered if those people now residing in the new homes on the site were experiencing any disturbances. The houses aren't selling, but that could be to the genuine ugliness of them.

The site of this reported haunting is Elm Avenue on the corner of Lincoln Avenue in Hackensack.
