Ann?"
"My name is Vandermeer."
Dee asked, "Laura, why are you here?"
"Richard told me to stay in the room until he got back. He told me that there
were obnoxious men in the lobby and on the street, and I was only safe if I stayed in the
room."
"Hasnt Richard ever come back?"
"No. He said that he would be gone a little while, but he hasnt returned
yet. Hes been gone for such a long time and Ive been so lonely and
worried."
"Do you think that something could have happened to him? There is a
possibility that something happened to him and he passed away and cant come back to
you," Dee suggested.
"Richard told me to stay in the room until he got back and thats what
Im going to do," the young woman flatly stated.
"Why did you come to Skagway?" Dee asked.
"Richard came to get rich and he wanted to marry me. So, I came up here to get
married to him. I love him very much."
Again Dee said, "Laura, what happened to you in this room? Did somebody hurt
you, or were you sick or something?"
After she thought a while, Laura answered, "AfterRichard left I did get sick. I
remember being very hot and then very cold and my chest hurt. I had trouble breathing.
Then very suddenly I was fine. No more pain or trouble. I didnt even cough anymore.
I was just cold all the time."
Dee was in a quandary as to how to tell this gentle soul that her physical body no
longer existed, and she tried to explain the best she could.
"I dont believe you! How could I be dead?" she snapped. "Im
talking to you right now!"
Dee went on to explain that Laura was using Bobbies physical body to speak to
all of them. She looked at Bobbies face, and it seemed to be relaxed in deep
thought. Then Lauras voice came tumbling out, "Oh my goodness! What am I to
do? What am I to do now?"
Dee said that Bobbies body was reacting to the emotion, and she was almost
crying. So she tried the best she knew to explain to the spirit that they would help her
find Richard.
Lauras voice, through Bobbie, asked in a fearful way, "But how am I going
to do that? How do I know where Im going?"
Dee thought about this for awhile, for she honestly had no more idea how a soul
left this plane of existence and went on to the other than Laura did. But she did know
that usually the process was almost automatic. So perhaps the use of concentration and
imagination on the part of the three of them just might do it.
So Dee said to the spirit, "Well help you Laura. Just concentrate on going
to your Richard and well help you get to the right place." |
