Ghosts, Kevin Osborn, 1996, illus., 128 pp $4.99
newinkl3.gif (884 bytes)
This teeny-tiny book (1 ¾ inches by 2 ¼ inches) is so adorable, we  just sit here all day going, "Awwww… Isn’t it cute?" The contents are almost irrelevant, but if it matters, this lavishly illustrated tiny tome covers pretty standard spooks: Anne Boleyn in the Tower, Lincoln’s ghost in the White House, The Flying Dutchman, different types of ghosts, ways ghosts haunt, celebrations for the Dead. It's even got a dust-jacket. Perfect for your haunted dollhouse.

Where Dead Men Walk, Vol. 1, Patty A. Wilson, 2001, photos, 138 pp, $15.95
newinkl3.gif (884 bytes)
Another winning ghost book from Wilson, this time not just from her native Pennsylvania, but from all across the globe. The chorus of demonic voices that came for a haunted man. A balding ghost at the Willow Saloon, Oprah’s haunted studio,  the ghost of poor Phyllis Parker at the Vealtown Tavern where she discovered her dead lover in a coffin downstairs, the multiple ghosts of Van Buren Bed & Breakfast, which were so stirred up by the owner’s ghost tour, that she has forever banned ouija boards, seances, and psychics from the premises!

The World of Ghosts and the Supernatural, the Occult, the Unexplained, and the Mystical Around the Globe, Richard Cavendish, 1994, photos, $22.95 HB
newinkl3.gif (884 bytes)
A large-format book with loads of color pictures. This book isn’t all ghosts—many other subjects are covered—vampires, ghouls and all kinds of magical and superrnatural practices, but I include it because it covers area neglected by other books: Asia, the Pacific, Africa, South America.

President Paasikivi of Finland, seen in 1957 in an apartment house elevator by two witnesses—four months after his death. A hairy creature with six-inch claws that mutilated members of a Brazilian family. The mysterious "min-min lights" of Australia.

The World’s Greatest Ghosts, Nigel Blundell and Roger Boar, 1984, 192 pp. $9.95
newinkl3.gif (884 bytes)
Loads of good material here from all over the world. Historic haunts and their contemporary updates. Interesting short boxed vignettes highlighted on every other page. HOWEVER, they do talk about Amityville as if it were gospel truth--not surprising, considering the copyright date. Sarah Whitehead, the sad "Lady in Black" of Threadneedle Street. Marsden Grotto, now a restaurant, which echoes with the screams of a smuggler trussed up in a barrel and left to starve. The Horrifying vision of a child who saw her mother being beaten by two ghosts in her burning room. Nearby was the body of her father—with a pair of scissors in his throat. She fled, but when she returned with help, there was no sign of burning, and, of course, no vicious ghosts. Only the dead bodies of her parents…
