When Nadler was researching her popular "Ghosts of
Edgartown" tour, she found plenty of ghosts on this small island including Desire
Coffin, who was called back from Death by the power of music; "Old Joe," the
typing ghost of the Edgartown jail; Hadley House--haunted by a berserk lumberjack with an
ax, a young man in Mardi-Gras costume, and an elderly, opera-singing lady. One chapter covers the ghostly entities of Chappaquiddick that may have had a
hand in the Kennedy/Kopechne incident at the Bridge. Many understated, chilling stories
and delightful line drawings of haunted sites make this a wonderful book! |
