Q: How Long Have You Been in Business?

A: Since 1991. A mere drop in the bucket in the face of Eternity, but pretty good for a mail-order company.

Q: How Did You Decide to Sell Books on Ghosts?

A: I write and collect ghost books myself and I got tired of finding the same old books on crop circles and crystals in the occult section of my local bookstore. They never seemed to get any new ghost titles. Then a friend sent me a copy of The Ghosts of Gettysburg, which, she said, was only available in Pennsylvania. I began to think that there must be other ghost-writers, like me, writing ghost stories of local interest, who would like a wider distribution for their books. I'm now up to over 150 authors and the result is Invisible Ink.

Q: Who Chooses and Reviews the Books?

A: I do. I'm Chris Woodyard, I write the Haunted Ohio series of ghost books. I've been reading ghost-stories since I was in first grade. I have a personal collection of over 3,000 ghost books and I'm doing my best to read every non-fiction ghost book published since the late 19th century. I'm also working on a bibliography of non-fiction ghost books which is up to about 7,000 items. I'm told I know my subject. I'm opinionated, but my customers expect it.

Q:Why Don't You Have Any Books on Vampires, Witches, Demons, UFOs, Angels, or Werewolves?

A: Because this ia a catalog featuring ghosts. There are many catalogs carrying New Age and Fortean material. I focus only on ghosts because they are my favorite supernatural creature.

Q: Can I Safely Use My Credit Card Over the Internet?

A: Yes! Our secure order line is encrypted (or scrambled) so it's virtually impossible for anyone to take your credit card information. Using your credit card on a safe order line is actually safer than handing your card to a waiter or salesperson in a store. Or if you prefer, you can browse our selections, then call (937) 426-5110 to place your order or send in your order by mail.

Q: What Happens if I Find I Already Have a Book After I Buy It?

Q: What Happens if You Send Me the Wrong Book or Make Some Other Mistake?

A: We make every effort to make sure your order is correct, but we're only human (at least, we think we are. We do reflect in mirrors...) and sometimes errors creep in, despite our best efforts. If we make a mistake, we will make it right. Just give us a call and explain the problem. But please don't yell at the staff; it hurts their feelings. We'll send you the correct book, as well as an envelope with postage for you to send the mistake back to us. No matter what--we'll make it right! Our motto: "Service with a skeletal grin."

Q: Can I Call You For More Information About a Book?

A: Of course. Call (937) 426-5110. You may want to ask for Chris, since I do all the book reviews. I'm usually out of the office a lot in October, since that is my book-tour month. If you want really detailed information, like "Can you give me a list of all the books you have that contain stories about Borley Rectory?" I'll have to refer you to my research guy, Curt Dalton. He will do a search for you. He's very fast and very reasonable and he can even look at out-of-print books from my personal collection. Call him directly at 937-278-3504 or write him with your requirements at 2058 Ottello Ave, Dayton, OH 45414.

Question #9

newinkl3.gif (884 bytes)
Q: How Soon Will I Get My Order?

A: If all books are in stock, generally we ship within 48 hours. Most orders go book rate, which means you should get your books within 2 weeks. But remember, your mailed order may take up to a week to get to us (We're in Dayton, OH, within howling distance of Wright-Patterson's Hangar 18...) If you are a new customer, we may hold your check until it clears the bank before sending your order. You can avoid this delay by paying by money order, certified check, or credit card.

Question #10

newinkl3.gif (884 bytes)
Q: What Happens When a Book Is Out of Stock?

A: We will either E-mail or mail you a notice or enclose the notice with your order. You will be charged for the title along with the rest of your order. If you would prefer to receive a refund, please let us know. Overseas titles seem to be shipped via migratory waterfowl and it may take up to three months to get new stock. For most titles, though, the wait is only a few days or weeks.

Question #11

Q: Why Should I Buy From You?

A: • Because we have an enormous collection of ghost stories, knowledgeably reviewed right here in one spot.

• Because many of these books simply are not available anywhere else in the U.S. or are extremely hard to find at your local bookstore.

• Because you won't have to get that sniff of disapproval from a bookstore clerk who looks like Miss Liverwort, your Junior High librarian when you ask for ghost stories.

• Because you won't need to sift through the books on animal sacrifice made practical or alien infant care to find the same three ghost story books you saw last week.

• Because you would rather not run into the character who haunts the "occult/new age" section asking everyone within earshot, "Have you seen the lizard-faced Queen of the Cosmos?"

• Because we make it easy to buy quality ghost books.

• Because we care about pleasing our customers.
